1 tablespoon raw sugar or honey for children over 1 (optional*)
▪️ Wash and cut the figs and strawberries into quarters and place in a bowl ▪️ Add the sugar and lemon juice to the fruit ▪️ Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate overnight ▪️ Remove from the refrigerator, there should now be some liquid formed overnight (add extra water as needed, about 1/4 cup is needed to cook the jam) ▪️ Place the ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil ▪️ Turn down heat and simmer on low for 20 minutes or until liquid has evaporated ▪️ Let cool and store in a sterilised glass jar to refrigerate
Making jam at home is super easy and cuts out all the nasties that are found in processed jams. Spread on toast for breakfast or add to natural yoghurt for a yummy afternoon snack!
Adding sugar or honey is optional, if the fruit is sweet enough there is no need for additonal sugar.
