400g of mushrooms (any type is fine) chopped into small pieces
3/4 cup milk or cream
Salt and pepper (optional)
Sauté onions and garlic until caramelised (medium heat)
Add the mushrooms and salt & pepper and place the lid on the pan. Cook for 5 minutes and until liquid has formed in the pan
Remove lid, add the milk or cream and stir, simmer for 5-10 minutes until mushrooms are really soft
Serve with gnocchi or other pasta and enjoy!
I make this sauce to go especially with my sweet potato gnocchi because i find a red sauce doesn't go very well with the sweet potato in the gnocchi. This delicious creamy mushroom sauce is a favourite of Jacob's so I have used other pasta with it and he has enjoyed it just as much.
You can make and freeze this sauce for later use, although it's so easy to make you can whip it up in anytime!
